Hanover Zoo Festival
The tree slices are the entrance ticket to the festival.
On October 10, the state capital of Hanover once again invites visitors to its traditional Tiergartenfest. From 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., visitors can enjoy a colorful family-friendly program centered on nature, the forest, and entertainment. Online advance ticket sales have already begun: Those who purchase their tickets in advance can use the “Fast Lane” on the day of the event and avoid waiting in line at the entrance.
The Tiergartenfest is one of Hanover's event highlights in the fall.
The Tiergartenfest has been a fixture on Hannover’s event calendar for decades and attracts numerous families to the Tiergarten every year.
In 2026, visitors can once again look forward to a colorful mix of games, nature education, and entertainment: from demonstrations of forestry work to creative hands-on activities and a variety of shows. The event will once again conclude with a group lantern parade.
Free Admission for Diligent Collectors
The traditional acorn and chestnut collection drive is also part of the Zoo Festival. Children who have donated tree fruits for the animals at the zoo in advance receive a tree stump as a thank-you gift. This entitles them to free admission on the day of the event.
Online ticket sales have begun
Tickets for the Tiergartenfest can now be purchased online for free. With a ticket purchased in advance, visitors can use the “Fast Lane” at the entrance on the day of the event, thus avoiding wait times.
“We’ve been offering online advance ticket sales for two years now, which has significantly eased the situation at the ticket counters,” says Deputy District Manager Dominik Wolter.
Admission and arrival
Admission costs 3 euros for adults and 2 euros for children ages 7 to 14. Children age 6 and under are admitted free of charge. Children up to age 14 who can present their tree disc from the acorn and chestnut collection campaign are also admitted free of charge.
The best way to get there is by taking tram line 5 to the “Tiergarten” stop. The entrances are located at the Hotel Leonardo and at Tiergartenstraße 149. Dogs and bicycles are not allowed in the Tiergarten.
Important: Due to the event, the Tiergarten will not open until 1 p.m. on October 10.
Hard-working children can collect acorns and chestnuts in advance and receive a tree slice for free entry.
20 tons of acorns were collected by the many hard-working children in 2025.
The children can also get active themselves and work with wood at various stations.
The 2025 Tiergarten Festival also served as the finale of the "700 Years of Garden Culture" anniversary celebration.
