Take off and fly, climb and play
Hanover attracts visitors with unique recreational sports attractions for the whole family
Superfly
Superfly
One of Hanover’s highlights for families and adventure seekers alike: At the “Superfly Trampoline Park,” you can experience breathtaking jumps on gigantic trampolines. In the vast trampoline landscape, surrounded by springy jumping areas, you’ll bounce back and forth in all directions almost like bouncy balls. And with a spectacular ceiling height of nearly ten meters, there are virtually no limits to your weightless flights. To top it off, a state-of-the-art lighting and sound system is controlled live by DJs. And the cool “Space”-themed design creates a fantastic atmosphere at the “Air Sports Park,” which is one of the largest of its kind in Germany. Various courses—such as the Ninja Course, Tumbling Lane, Waterfall Trampolines, Air Ball, and the Flying Dunk Station—offer fun and action for all ages.
Climb like pirates
But the capital of Lower Saxony also has plenty to offer outdoor sports enthusiasts, for example at the high-rope courses in and around Hanover: The “Springe” high-rope course is located on the edge of the Deister mountain range, which is also ideal for biking and hiking. The “Sea Tree Adventure Park” in Mardorf is another attraction for beachgoers and water sports enthusiasts at Steinhuder Meer, a paradise for surfers. At the “Pirate Rock” adventure park on Wietzesee, daring climbers board a shipwreck with tall masts towering over the beach. And the ropes course in the Eilenriede, located right in the heart of Hannover’s city forest, offers an active alternative after sightseeing, strolling through the city, or visiting a museum. For climbers who enjoy practicing their sport in the great outdoors, the Ith Cliffs in the nearby Weserbergland region are an insider’s tip. All information can be found at www.hannover.de.
The participants of the Boulder Cup show the audience their skills on the climbing wall.
Bouldering Gym and Escape Room
Three indoor climbing gyms await all climbers and those who want to become climbers: The Climbing Campus at the University of Hannover offers more than 80 routes on 12-meter-high walls for all age groups and at all difficulty levels. A separate area is available for beginners, while advanced climbers can try their hand at an overhang. True experts will find challenges at the new “Escaladrome Bloc-Werk Hannover”: This bouldering gym focuses on rope-free climbing at jumping height—the “supreme discipline of climbing.” The German Alpine Club invites you to practice and train at its “Griffreich” climbing gym in Hannover-Döhren. Puzzle enthusiasts and good team players will experience a special thrill in “escape rooms”: Groups are locked in a room and have 60 minutes to solve mysteries and combine objects to find the key to their playful escape.
Water
Sports The Hannover vacation region offers unexpected opportunities for water sports enthusiasts: Lake Steinhude is a mecca for sailors and surfers, and kitesurfing and stand-up paddleboarding are also available here for beginners, intermediate, and advanced athletes alike. Stand-up paddleboarding is now even available right in the heart of Lower Saxony’s capital, at the Strandleben bar at the confluence of the Leine and Ihme rivers. And at the Blauer See in Garbsen, northwest of Hanover, a waterski cable lift draws water sports enthusiasts: as if pulled by magic, they glide across the water at speeds of up to 30 kilometers per hour and practice trick skiing, wakeboarding, or slalom.
