An inclined elevator, a common theme, and an adventure zoo
A city trip to Hanover offers exciting experiences for families and children.
A one-of-a-kind, slanted elevator takes the whole family up to the dome of Hannover’s magnificent city hall. Windows in the roof and floor of the elevator car offer thrilling views of the crooked shaft. Once at the top, visitors enjoy a fantastic view of green Hannover. This makes for an exciting start to the city tour, even for children.

Next, visitors can explore Lower Saxony’s state capital “from the ground up.” A red line painted on the pavement runs right through the city center: “Der Rote Faden” is a city walking tour—just over four kilometers long—that takes you to 36 points of interest. Those who follow it on their own can decide for themselves where and how long to stop. Interesting and entertaining facts about all the attractions are included in the handy brochure “Der Rote Faden.” The “Hannover for Smart Kids!” tour is specially designed for families with children ages six and up.
