The Old Town Flea Market in Hanover

Starting March 4, 2023, one of Germany's oldest flea markets will once again invite visitors to browse and stroll through Hannover's Old Town.

Near the famous Nanas and the Historical Museum, flea market enthusiasts can discover all sorts of treasures among the curiosities and bric-a-brac along the Leine River. The Old Town Flea Market is a traditional event known far beyond Hannover’s city limits. Enthusiasts even travel from the Netherlands, Belgium, and neighboring German states to visit. During the summer months, up to 230 flea market vendors offer their unique wares. Art and kitsch, odds and ends—these are the kinds of things visitors can expect to find. Watercolors, jewelry, porcelain, records, and antique candlesticks are also part of the colorful selection at the Old Town Flea Market. New and mass-produced goods are not allowed here.

New opening hours

The flea market is open every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the new season, from March through October. From November through the end of February, the flea market takes a winter break. Setup begins at 8:00 a.m., and takedown is permitted starting at 4:00 p.m. Parking spaces are available for vendors in the immediate vicinity. Visitors can easily reach the flea market by public transportation, bicycle, or their own car.

The Old Town Children's Flea Market will take place again in 2023

It’s time to clean out the kids’ rooms, the basement, and the attic! While tidying up, you’re sure to find plenty of things that aren’t being played with anymore or that have simply become too small. Toys, picture books, balance bikes, dolls, or children’s clothes—kids can sell all these items with their parents on the lawn between Schloßstraße and Karmarschstraße. It’s fun, fills the piggy bank, and is also a great way to support sustainability. You can sell items once a month on Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Dates for the 2023 Children's Flea Market:

April 15, May 6, June 3, June 24, August 26, September 9

Sellers are not required to register at either flea market.

Tip for flea market fans:

For flea market fans, there's a small merchandise collection featuring the popular flea market logo on items such as an enamel mug with a gramophone design, cotton bags, yo-yos, and key chains.

All flea market souvenirs are available in the online store and at the Tourist Information office at Ernst-August-Platz 8.
