Hannover to Host the European Championship

A real treat for soccer fans: Two national teams are setting up camp in the Region Hannover for the European Championship

The excitement is building: With just a few days left until the kickoff of the European Football Championship, the Region Hannover is transforming into a vibrant hub of anticipation. Although no matches will be played here, soccer fever is still sweeping through the streets and alleys, as two national teams are based here.

Poland's squad checks in downtown

The Polish national team will check into the stylish 4-star Sheraton Hannover Pelikan Hotel in the List district tomorrow, Tuesday. The players will stay in elegant rooms with a loft-style ambiance, equipped with every comfort one could wish for. Meals will be served in a separate dining room. The team chef and the hotel’s head chef will work together to prepare the players’ meals. The atmosphere at the hotel is characterized by hospitality. “We will give the team a warm welcome so that they feel completely at home here,” emphasizes hotel director Sebastian Krebs. Anyone hoping to catch a glimpse of stars like Lewandowski and company should visit the hotel’s Pelikan Bar, where creative cocktails and the soft sounds of the piano offer the chance to chat with the soccer greats.

The Turkish team will set up its base camp at Deister starting June 11

In Barsinghausen, the Turkish national team is preparing for its major tournament. The 4-star Sporthotel Fuchsbachtal, nestled in the picturesque Deister landscape, offers the perfect retreat for the team. The entire hotel, which has been working with the German Football Association for decades, has been exclusively leased to the Turkish Football Federation. When the players aren’t training on the adjacent Bundesliga-standard natural grass field, they enjoy the view of the idyllic natural surroundings from their suites. The hotel team’s goal is to ensure that the Turkish team is fully prepared for their matches and can have as successful a tournament as possible. Fans can look forward to an open training session on Wednesday, June 12, at the August-Wenzel-Stadion in Barsinghausen.

Public viewings and a festive atmosphere

Fans won’t have to look far to dive right into the action. An open-air fan zone is being set up on Raschplatz behind the main train station, where public viewings and DJ sets featuring music from the competing nations will create an authentic party atmosphere. In addition, numerous beer gardens throughout the region invite visitors to watch the games together and experience the famous “German hospitality.” More info: www.hannover-living.de/public-viewing/
