With the world’s most important industrial trade fair taking place, the international business community is once again turning its attention to Hannover. With more than 120,000 visitors expected from around 150 countries, HANNOVER MESSE—which kicks off next Monday, April 20—is a key driver of growth for the region, both economically and in terms of the city’s international profile.

Against this backdrop, Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG) is taking a critical view of the current developments affecting public transportation, particularly with regard to their public image. “A strike is an important tool and always has economic repercussions, but especially in the context of a major international event like HANNOVER MESSE, where the world’s attention is focused on Hannover, we believe a line has been crossed, as the repercussions cause massive and lasting damage to both the city and its international reputation,” says Christian Katz, Managing Director of HMTG.

From a city marketing perspective, what matters most is how Hannover presents itself internationally during this event—as an efficient, reliable host and a modern business hub. HANNOVER MESSE plays a central role in this regard as a platform for international visibility and economic growth for the city.

“HANNOVER MESSE is one of the most important international showcases for the entire region. It brings decision-makers from industry, technology, and innovation to the region and generates economic value far beyond the Fairground,” said Katz.

„"Our goal is to position Hanover as a strong, international hub. To achieve this, reliability, easy accessibility, and a seamless visitor experience are key factors."

The trade show has always had a strong impact on the Region Hannover: the restaurant industry, retail, mobility providers, and numerous service sectors all benefit from the high number of visitors. Katz: “We should do everything we can to convey a positive overall image of the city to our guests and help them experience Hannover as an open, professional, and dynamic business location.”
