Handball Fever in Hannover - Visit Hannover

HMTG press release

Handball Fever in Hanover

Moving images on the town hall façade welcome athletes!

The German men's handball team will compete for a spot in the Paris Olympics from Thursday, March 14, through Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the ZAG Arena in Hanover. Along with Germany, Algeria, Croatia, and Austria will be vying for a spot in France.

Hanover captures the dynamic energy of this sporting event with a variety of images that will be projected onto the exterior facade of the New City Hall at Platz der Menschenrechte 1 on three evenings (Tuesday, March 12, Wednesday, March 13, and Thursday, March 14, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. each night).

Through these video animations, the state capital of Hanover, together with Hannover Marketing & Tourismus GmbH (HMTG), extends a “warm welcome” to the Olympic handball qualifiers. The lighting display is intended not only to honor the athletic achievements of these handball heroes, but also to serve as a symbol of the city’s vibrant community and sporting spirit.

This spectacular event was initiated by Department IV for Education, Youth, and Family of the state capital, under the direction of Susanne Blasberg-Bense, in collaboration with the Sports and Events Division.
The event is being organized on behalf of the HMTG by the company “Projekt.ON” from Garbsen
