Night of the Museums - Visit Hannover

Art Meets the Local Music Scene

Night of the museums

Enjoy with all your senses: Museum Night on June 14 will feature an extensive music program for the first time

This year, the "10 Years of City of Music Hannover" event is celebrating with a particularly diverse musical program.

The night will be colorful, loud, lively, and full of special moments. On Friday, June 14, 19 museums, galleries, and cultural institutions in Hannover will open their doors at 6 p.m. for this year’s Night of Museums. With an expanded concept that, for the first time, also includes a diverse music program, visitors can look forward to an inspiring evening filled with art, culinary discoveries, and a variety of soundscapes. At 16 of the 19 participating venues, bands, DJs, sound artists, and singer-songwriters will complement the exhibition program. What has long been a must-see highlight for art enthusiasts is now becoming an event for all the senses.

The idea for the musical component came from Hans Nolte, managing director of Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH, which is providing financial and organizational support for the project: “We want to breathe life into the exhibition spaces—especially for a young audience. Museum Night merges with Hannover’s nightlife, anchored in the anniversary year of the UNESCO City of Music. This gives it a unique character,” says Nolte.

Eva Bender, Head of the Cultural Affairs Department, adds:
“This year, we’re celebrating a Museum Night that appeals to all the senses—visual, culinary, and auditory. Hannover’s heartbeat pulses to the rhythm of the music—that’s the City of Music in action.”

Highlights
There’s guaranteed to be something for everyone this evening: at the Kestner Gesellschaft, for example, works by London-based conceptual artist Jack O’Brien are on display. The Museum August Kestner is hosting an exhibition on the history of tattooing. At the Landesmuseum, the night is all about water. At the WOK Kitchen Museum, guests can look forward to a 2.5-meter-tall cake celebrating the museum’s 15th anniversary, and the Kino im Künstlerhaus is screening short films by David Lynch.
Musical highlights include DJ Ferry and DJ SanFan Disko with their driving beats. The artist duo Liquid Soul makes music with water and air, and the Marshmallows will liven up the night with banjo and baritone saxophone.
The grand finale is the big party in the courtyard of the Schauspielhaus starting at 11:00 PM.

A Museum Visit Meets a Night Out
During this vibrant celebration of culture and creativity, all of Hannover becomes a dance floor. In addition to a diverse array of artistic events, guests can look forward to stylish hangouts such as laid-back courtyards or lounge areas offering street food, cocktails, and a gin bar. In this way, Museum Night blends classical culture with urban lifestyle—appealing not only to art lovers but also to the trendy and club-going crowd.

Prices
Admission to the Night of Museums is a one-time fee of 7 euros. Admission is free for children 14 and under and for holders of the HannoverAktivPass.
