The Fairground Elektrofestival returns to the Fairground on the first weekend of December
Hannover is dancing! Following last year’s successful premiere, the Fairground Festival is returning for the second time to Exhibition Halls 2 and 3 at the Hanover Fairground—with fresh concepts, a new international lineup, and an extra day: This year’s Fairground Festival will kick off as a full weekend experience on December 1 and 2.
“Last year, the Fairground Festival made its debut at the Hannover Fairground, attracting 14,500 visitors. It became not only the largest gathering place for fans, friends, and families of electronic music in northern Germany, but also one of the largest indoor festivals in Germany. We are very pleased that the event is once again making Lower Saxony’s capital the mecca of the electronic music scene,” says Hans Nolte, Managing Director of Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH.
The Lineup
: Starting on Friday, visitors can look forward to a top-notch and exclusive program on the Main Stage. In addition to global superstar and headliner Paul Kalkbrenner, Ben Böhmer will also be performing exclusively in Hanover as another headliner of the evening. The two Berliners are currently among the most sought-after live acts on the international scene. Scene favorites such as Stephan Bodzin, Jan Blomquist, and Jonas Saalbach are also part of the lineup.
Friday’s theme, “Live Performance Only,” is a first in the German festival scene. “The Fairground Festival is the first electronic music festival to feature exclusively live acts on the main stage, thereby further highlighting the artistic integrity of the performers,” says Helge Peterknecht, managing director of HUNF GmbH and organizer of the event.
The action continues on Saturday: Starting at 5 p.m., the party will keep going on three massive stages until the early hours of the morning. A lineup featuring more than 30 international artists across genres like house, melodic house, techno, hard techno, hardstyle, and hardcore promises a unique live experience. As was the case last year, the headliner is Belgian techno icon Charlotte de Witte. Also performing: Adam Beyer, Lilly Palmer, and many more.
DJ Contest
On their Instagram channel, Fairground.Festival, the organizers are also announcing a DJ contest. On a special stage, up-and-coming artists will have the opportunity to showcase their skills behind the turntables for one hour. The community will vote to decide which three winners will get to perform on a special stage between the halls during the festival weekend.
Free Public Transportation For the first time, festivalgoers can use
public transportation for free to get to and from the event. The online ticket is valid on the day of the event, starting three hours before the event begins until 7 a.m. the following day, as a ticket for all public transportation (2nd class) throughout the entire GVH fare zone (Zones ABC).
From Hannover, for Hannover
The organizers of the electronic music event are Helge Peterknecht and Ina Stöver from Hannover. What drives the team is the desire to do something in Hannover for Hannover. “Hannover deserves a festival like this. It’s important to us to involve as many local partners as possible. The Fairground Festival is significant not only as a trade fair venue but also as a fairground, a playground for fans of electronic music. We’re bringing a sense of lightheartedness, joie de vivre, and carefree fun to the fairgrounds,” says Peterknecht.
The Fairground Festival will take place on December 1 and 2 at the Hannover Fairground in Halls 2 and 3.
