From Christmas circuses to winter variety shows

When artistry and the Christmas spirit come together, the result is a feast for the eyes and the senses.
With its regular artistry shows, acrobatic productions, circus performances, and one of Germany’s most renowned variety theaters, Hannover ranks among the country’s leading variety cities. In the coming weeks, soaring elegance and breathtaking artistry will meet the magic of the Christmas season here.

Clear the stage for sparkling eyes

From December 18 to January 4, the “Hannover Christmas Circus” will set up its festively decorated and well-heated tent at the Schützenplatz. At the 7th Grand Prix of the Artists, the crème de la crème of the international performing arts scene will showcase their skills: legends such as the “King of Clowns” Mikhail Usov and the grand seigneur of juggling, Kris Kremo, will provide fun, excitement, and spectacular moments.

Curtain up on Hanover's winter theater season

As the number one variety show capital, Hanover offers three shows that promise varied and lively evenings. From November 21 to January 18, the GOP brings the traditional winter variety show “Sentimientos” to the historic setting of the Herrenhausen Orangery—and with it, the passion of Spain to the cold season. Running concurrently at the GOP Variety Theater on Georgstraße through January 4 is the show “Formidable,” featuring the world’s top circus artists performing at the highest level.
And there’s plenty for young guests to enjoy as well: From November 2 through January 4, the venue transforms into the fantastical world of the island with two mountains—with the children’s Christmas musical “Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver.”.

Forward somersault: On tour with Gymnastics Art

With its new show “Journey,” “Feuerwerk der Turnkunst” is embarking on a major tour of Germany—and will be stopping in Hanover on December 31 and January 17. The audience can look forward to an evening filled with movement, acrobatics, music, and emotion. Top international artists will present gymnastics at the highest level, artfully interwoven with light, sound, and impressive stage designs
