In its first nine days, the Maschseefest in Hanover welcomed more than 900,000 guests. At least 100,000 visitors are expected this Friday, meaning the Maschseefest will surpass the one-million mark right at the halfway point. “We are delighted by the tremendous turnout and are optimistic about the second half of the festival,” says Hans Nolte, head of Hannover Veranstaltungs GmbH (HVG).
This year, the weather was at its best with average temperatures of 25 degrees and around 73 hours of sunshine. The number of visitors at the halfway point is comparable to that of the pre-corona year 2019. Compared to last year, the interim balance has improved because 14 out of 19 days in 2023 were rainy.
The day with the most visitors so far was the first Saturday with around 220,000 festival-goers. With an extensive program and a continued summery weather forecast, the second festival weekend is just around the corner.
Hans Nolte: "With the summer weather, there is probably no better place than the Maschseefest. The maritime open air in the middle of the city offers sundowners with a view of the lake, a varied program for all ages and international cuisine that leaves nothing to be desired. We are confident about the second half and are looking forward to the final spurt."
From the Seine to the Maschsee: Olympic heroines celebrate victory on the north bank
The Olympic gold medal-winning 3x3 women’s basketball team landed in Hanover on Thursday afternoon and celebrated their triumph that same evening at the Maschsee. Svenja Brunckhorst, Sonja Greinacher, and Marie Reichert from the Turn-Klubb zu Hannover invited teammates and friends to a gold-medal celebration at Tulum on the lake’s north shore. The HVG provided champagne and black-red-gold cocktails to toast the sensational victory.
