On the trail of the personal union
Hannover Architecture Trail
Discover the evidence of a bygone era that can still be found in today's cityscape.
This year marks the 300th anniversary of the personal union between Hannover and England: for 123 years, both countries were ruled by the Hannoverian House of Welf. In addition to the major state exhibition being held at various museums, another highlight of the celebrations is now getting underway.
Under the motto “12 Locations, 12 Themes, 30 Days,” downtown Hannover was transformed into a very British open-air gallery. In addition, a new architectural trail now permanently guides visitors to historic buildings from the era of the Personal Union. Plus, you can win great prizes in a contest (through July 6, 2014)!
Follow in the footsteps of the personal union!
