Don't miss this last chance—take the Bogenaufzug now! (November 12, 2014)

Visitors can still take the curved dome lift up the tower of the New City Hall until November 16. The winter break is expected to end on March 7. The Hannover double-decker bus is also operating on a winter schedule.

Last chance to take in the view of Hannover: Through Sunday, November 16, visitors to the New City Hall can take the unique curved dome lift up to the 98-meter-high dome of the New City Hall—and enjoy the view of Hannover in its colorful autumn hues. Due to weather conditions, the winter break will begin after that. The break is necessary for safety reasons, as the stairs on the platform can become too slippery in frost and snow. Hannover Veranstaltungs GmbH (HVG) will use the winter break to have the curved dome lift thoroughly serviced. The curved dome lift is expected to resume operations on March 7.

This season, more than 90,000 visitors from Hannover and around the world took the elevator up to the dome of City Hall. Guests included British, Dutch, French, American, Russian, Chinese, and Polish visitors, among others. “Visiting the New City Hall, the city’s most famous building, and taking the curved dome lift up the tower are very popular with tourists,” says Hans Christian Nolte, managing director of Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH.

For the last time this year, visitors can ride up the nearly 98-meter-high, gilded town hall dome this week—first vertically and then at a 17-degree angle. A window in the cabin’s roof allows passengers to watch the ride unfold up close. Another window in the floor of the cabin can be made transparent at the push of a button—so a special thrill is guaranteed. Once at the top, visitors are treated to a fantastic view of Lower Saxony’s state capital, the colorful trees along the Maschsee, or the Eilenriede. On a clear day, guests can see all the way to the Deister.

Curved dome lift opening hours: Through November 16, Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. The last ride is at 6 p.m. Note: During the winter break, the opening hours of the visitor information desk in the New City Hall will change: Starting Sunday, November 16, it will be open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Winter schedule for the Hannover double-decker bus

The winter season has also begun for the Hanover double-decker bus, which HMTG operates in cooperation with Hannover CityTour e.K.: Instead of running daily, the bus will now operate every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. through March 31. The 100-minute tour provides a wealth of interesting and informative facts in eleven languages about the city’s neighborhoods, history, and residents. Thanks to the hop-on-hop-off system, passengers can get on and off at all seven stops. “It’s hard to imagine the cityscape without the double-decker bus, and it’s been very well received,” says Hans Christian Nolte, Managing Director of HMTG. Thanks to the good weather, 17,670 people rode the Hannover Bus between April and October of this year; in the same period of 2013, the figure was 14,525. This represents an increase in passenger numbers of over 20 percent.
You can find all the information about the city tour in the flyer.

In addition to sightseeing tours on double-decker buses, HMTG offers private city tours in cooperation with regional bus companies.
