Today, the world’s largest Fairground—with over 460,000 m² of indoor space and 58,000 m² of outdoor space—rank among the most modern of their kind. When the United States served as a partner for Hannover Messe 2016, U.S. President Barack Obama opened the world’s most important industrial trade fair. Other leading trade fair events—such as DOMOTEX, LIGNA, BIOTECHNICA, CeMAT, and AGRITECHNICA—regularly underscore the venue’s significance as a key driver of economic growth. The city’s green oases promise relaxation, from Europe’s largest urban forest, the Eilenriede, all the way to Lake Maschsee. Right in the heart of the city, the lake, with its sailboats and palm-lined promenades, creates a Mediterranean atmosphere.
