As an internationally renowned trade fair city, Hanover looks back on a tradition spanning more than 75 years. Today, the world’s largest trade fair grounds—with over 460,000 m² of indoor space and 58,000 m² of outdoor space—rank among the most modern of their kind. Here, technology events such as HANNOVER MESSE serve as hubs for innovation. Each year, a major industrial nation serves as the partner country. When the United States was the partner country for HANNOVER MESSE 2016, U.S. President Barack Obama opened the world’s most important industrial trade fair. Other leading trade shows—such as Interschutz, LIGNA, BIOTECHNICA, EUROBlech, and AGRITECHNICA—regularly underscore the venue’s significance as a key driver of economic growth. The fairgrounds are also a premier destination for conferences and conventions. At its heart is the futuristic-looking Convention Center, which has been honored with the “Location Award.”

Whether it’s the award-winning convention center, Herrenhausen Palace—which has also won the “Location Award” twice—the Hannover Adventure Zoo, the Hannover Congress Centrum, or the over 100-year-old water tower, the city on the Leine boasts a wide range of attractive event venues.

The city’s green oases—from Europe’s largest urban forest, the Eilenriede, to the Maschsee—promise relaxation. Right in the heart of the city, the lake, with its sailboats and palm-lined promenades, creates a Mediterranean atmosphere.
