The Meeting Planet: Hannover, the conference city, showcases itself at IMEX 2014 in Frankfurt (May 16, 2014)
HannoverKongress, Deutsche Messe AG, and the Hannover Congress Centrum (HCC) will be presenting Hannover as a conference destination alongside other providers at the world’s largest trade show for the meetings and events industry in Frankfurt from May 20 to 22. At the same time, Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG) is promoting the Hannover region as a destination for conventions, conferences, and events in Frankfurt as well as on Deutsche Bahn trains.
The partners’ goal is to showcase the diverse opportunities Hannover offers to organizers of conferences, conventions, and events at IMEX in Hall 8 under the motto “Hannover – The Meeting Planet.” These opportunities are now being presented for the eighth time at a joint booth in Frankfurt. This year’s participants include Hannover Medical School, which will showcase its event venues; conference hotels of various categories; and venue portals, which are participating for the first time this year as online representatives.
“Modern infrastructure, a central location, unique venues, and comprehensive services—the Hannover region has established itself as a dynamic metropolis in the heart of Europe for events of all kinds,” said Hans Christian Nolte, Managing Director of HMTG.

The exhibition site is even being expanded with a new hall complex currently under construction on the exhibition grounds. At IMEX, Deutsche Messe AG will unveil the new building: With a floor area of 19,500 square meters and state-of-the-art technology and flexibility, it is designed to meet the most modern standards. Inside, there will be 14,600 square meters of exhibition space as well as a conference area spanning two levels. It can be automatically divided into two exhibition halls, allowing the size to be adjusted to the requirements of each event at the touch of a button. Completion is scheduled for spring 2015. In addition, the trade show presentation will focus on the anniversary celebrations of the HCC, which is marking its 100th anniversary this year with numerous events.

HannoverKongress, the conference service of HMTG, offers assistance in booking these various venues as well as independent consulting services for organizing conferences. Since 2006, HannoverKongress has been the point of contact for all matters related to “business tourism” and provides expert advice on planning the entire conference—from booking rooms and accommodations, to shuttle services and ticketing, all the way through to catering. “Whether it’s a small meeting, a staff event, or a conference, our city always has something suitable to offer with its diverse range of event and conference venues,” says Laura Harke, director of HannoverKongress.

The HMTG brochure “Congress City” provides an overview of the many opportunities Hannover has to offer. Across approximately 30 pages, it showcases the wide range of conference venues—from the Water Tower to the Herrenhausen Gardens, the Adventure Zoo, and Marienburg Castle—and provides information about the Hannover Congress Centrum as well as the world’s largest trade fair grounds. In addition, the brochure presents “Congress Selected Hotels,” a free hotel booking service with a best-price guarantee that allows guests to book hotel rooms up to three years in advance.
As part of IMEX, approximately 10,000 copies of this brochure are now available on Deutsche Bahn trains nationwide on the first day of the event. In addition, the HMTG is drawing attention to Hanover as a conference destination with about 50 large-format posters displayed around the Frankfurt exhibition grounds.
IMEX is used by 3,500 exhibitors from 150 countries—including travel agencies, hotel chains, airlines, and industry associations—to exchange ideas and network.
“IMEX is the most important trade show in the MICE industry, which is why HannoverKongress has been taking advantage of this opportunity for eight years now to showcase its services there and to establish and maintain international contacts,” says Hans Christian Nolte, managing director of HMTG.
