Which museum should we visit with the kids this weekend? Where can art and history enthusiasts get their fill? Which theater is showing comedies—and where can you catch cabaret, dramatic performances, or fun puppet shows? The new museum and theater brochure from Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH provides the answers to these questions. With a print run of 100,000 copies, the hot-off-the-press brochure offers a compact overview of the region’s diverse museum scene and a cross-section of Hannover’s impressive range of performing arts. In addition to brief descriptions of the individual institutions, it lists opening hours and public transportation access: the perfect conditions for conveniently planning your own art and cultural experiences! The brochures will be available starting December 8 at the Tourist Information office on Ernst-August-Platz in Hannover, at all participating museums and venues, as well as at public and cultural institutions throughout the Region Hannover.
The brochure features 23 different museums: internationally renowned institutions such as the Sprengel Museum Hannover and the kestnergesellschaft, as well as smaller, often volunteer-run organizations with specialized themes, offer excellent opportunities to experience culture and history up close. Further enriching the cultural landscape—and newly added to this brochure—are the Museum Schloss Herrenhausen and the Zinnober Children’s Museum. The reconstructed summer residence of the Guelphs in the Herrenhausen Gardens surprises visitors with changing exhibitions and precious artifacts, while the Zinnober Children’s Museum, located in the former Linden factory canteen, invites children to explore and experiment in a playful way.
The venues featured (36 locations) range from the Hanover State Opera, the GOP Varieté Theater, and the Schauspiel Hannover to theater workshops, cultural centers, cabaret and variety theaters, as well as private theaters offering exciting productions—from light entertainment to avant-garde. Here, too, the focus is not only on Hannover’s theatrical highlights, but also on exciting venues from the region, such as Landestrost Castle in Neustadt a. Rübenberge or the Hermannshof in Springe (a performance space and laboratory for artists).
Every year, the “Long Night of Theaters” offers a cross-section of Hannover’s impressive range of theatrical arts. At around 30 venues, theater lovers can stroll from theater to theater from 6 p.m. to midnight and put together an entertaining and diverse program featuring classical drama, dance theater, variety/comedy, and staged readings. The “Night of the Museums” takes visitors on an exciting nighttime journey of discovery through various museums and eras.
