With his show “A Journey Around the World with the Dance of Fire,” company founder Dmitriy Kuchugura aims to take the audience on a journey to various traditional and mysterious countries around the globe. Through a perfect interplay of both sound—featuring a selection of music typical of each country—and visuals—including characteristic sky paintings—the spirit of each country is brought to life. Kuchugura first visited the Herrenhausen Gardens with his wife in 2008, and ever since that visit, he has dreamed of creating a show for this special place. The family-run business from Ukraine spent over eight months preparing for their show in Hanover and is now looking forward to taking visitors on their own personal journey around the world.

The supporting program

Lucky toadstools humorously welcome visitors at the entrance gate and look forward to seeing them again after the summer break. Mysterious night fairies, spark-sparkling fire creatures, and fascinating forest elves on stilts roam the Great Garden. At the Garden Theater, the energetic musicians of Apparatschick use their electrified folk instruments to create a rhythm that gets your feet moving with polka, reggae, rock ’n’ roll, and Ukrainian disco. On the rehearsal stage, the vocal ensemble Kalyna, dressed in traditional attire, sings Ukrainian songs, while the duo Kratschkowski conjures up chansons, tango, romances, and klezmer with perfection on their accordions. The Universal Compressed Air Orchestra, an ensemble of unique mechanical musical instruments, creates the most beautiful music by the sundial. On the cabaret stage, Mariann Engels serves up a fiery cocktail of infectious cheer and breathtaking rope acrobatics. The children’s area is a magical place when Zara Finjell hands out imaginative balloon creations and transforms little stories into magical moments.

At 10 p.m., visitors can look forward to the show by this year’s first-time participating country. Under the motto “We fill the sky with magic and fairy-tale enchantment, and hearts with joy and fantastic impressions,” the Ukrainians aim to captivate the audience at the Herrenhausen Gardens. The Ukrainian family-owned company’s achievements include victories at the International Fireworks Festival at the Olympic Stadium in Donetsk (2010), at the Ukrainian Fireworks Festival in 2006, and participation in the Berlin Pyronale (2008). The company specializes in the distribution of fireworks products, the production of pyrotechnic shows set to music, and large-scale, colorful indoor and outdoor stage shows.
