The International Fireworks Competition welcomes the Pyrotex Fireworx team!

Fireworks, entertainment, culinary delights, and the 70th anniversary of the Bristol-Hannover city partnership: On August 19, 2017, the world-renowned International Fireworks Competition will welcome the English team from Pyrotex Fireworx to the third competition event at the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen.

Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol, will be given a tour of the city by Hannover’s Mayor Stefan Schostok throughout the day on Saturday. Together, they will open the “70 Years of Deutsche Messe AG” celebration, followed by the Festival of Cultures, and attend the duck race at the Maschsee Festival before heading to the International Fireworks Competition in the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen. The official welcome ceremony for the Bristol-Hannover city partnership will take place at 8:00 p.m. on the rehearsal stage, hosted by Marvin Rees and Stefan Schostok.

Mark Kelsall, managing director of Pyrotex Fireworx, visited the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen for the first time two years ago and was struck by their beauty. “They must be among the finest gardens in the world,” said Kelsall. “When I received the invitation to set off fireworks against this stunning backdrop, we immediately began preparations. The show was designed specifically for Hanover to showcase and preserve the natural beauty of the gardens.” The crew isn’t the only one involved in selecting the soundtracks; family and friends also listen to the many different songs to ensure the perfect ones are chosen in the end. “The audience can look forward to a beautiful, powerful, and emotional show with many different effects and sequences.” This fireworks display is very special to the team: they have replaced the final song and are dedicating it to the English boy Bradley Lowery, who passed away a few weeks ago after a lifelong battle and has left all of England in mourning.

Before the fireworks begin at 10:00 p.m., an English bobby and the iconic red phone booth welcome visitors at the entrance gate. A long-legged hippie couple radiating love, peace, and flower power crosses paths in the Great Garden with imaginatively “adorned” ladies from the Ascot horse races. Inspired by the latest Punk Fashion Week, palace guards take center stage in unconventional uniforms and vegan fur hats. Clown Gina follows in the footsteps of the famous English tramp Charlie Chaplin. The jack-of-all-trades Andy Clapp makes objects vanish and playfully teases both himself and his audience with British charm. 50 Years of Sgt. Pepper: With a modern sound, the four musicians of ReCartney present songs from this legendary album recorded at Abbey Road Studios in the Garden Theater. A tribute to the Beatles universe! On the rehearsal stage, Daisy Chapman from Hanover’s sister city Bristol sings her way into the hearts of the audience.

The lineup definitely includes piano, cello, loops, and their song “A Girl in Hannover.” A vegetable kindergarten has just arrived fresh from England. The cute little ones love being fed and pampered by visitors of all ages—a tender, vegan treat. The Roaring Clubstars Mike & Mike offer top-notch entertainment near the sundial, straight from the melting pot of the Golden Twenties, featuring comedy, acrobatics, and juggling. Nakupelle makes his audience laugh on the open steps with sublime slapstick and poetic failures, crazy music, and exuberant, physical comedy. On the Children’s Meadow, young audiences will experience just how wild things get on a pirate ship. Who’s brave enough to set sail on a privateering expedition on behalf of the Queen?
