Old Town Children's Flea Market

The little bargain hunters are moving!

The “little brother” of the traditional flea market at the Hohe Ufer will have a new home starting April 14, 2018. In the future, young flea market-goers will be able to buy and sell their toys on the lawn in front of the Lower Saxony State Parliament—which is a direct extension of the Hohe Ufer.

Old Town Children's Flea Market

It’s almost time for spring cleaning—when you’re tidying up the kids’ rooms, the attic, the basement, and other areas, you’re sure to find plenty of things that aren’t played with anymore, that have been outgrown, or that simply aren’t needed anymore. Toys, picture books, balance bikes, car seats, dolls, or children’s clothes—kids can sell all these items with their parents at the children’s flea market every second Saturday of the month. It’s fun, helps fill the piggy bank, and is also a great way to support sustainability.

“I’m delighted that the children’s flea market is now in its fifth year. What started as a ‘trial run’ has become a regular fixture on Hannover’s calendar of events. Thanks to its new location on the banks of the Leine, it now has even more space. This makes it a direct extension of Germany’s oldest and most famous flea market. In the spirit of putting sustainability into practice, it offers children a great opportunity to sell valuable—but unused—items or to buy well-preserved and sought-after items and put them to further use,” said Mayor Stefan Schostok.

Little Brother: The Children's Flea Market follows in the tradition of the Old Town Flea Market.

At the new location on the lawn between Schloßstraße and Karmarschstraße, the Old Town Children’s Flea Market—now in its fifth year—will be open an hour longer than usual, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The children’s flea market takes place on the second Saturday of every month. Registration is not required for vendors; vendors should bring a table and arrive on site by 8:00 a.m. at the latest. Staff will assist vendors in selecting their spots. The booth fee is €5 per square meter and is collected on-site. The sale of new, industrially manufactured goods is not permitted.

The dates for the 2018 Children's Flea Market:
April 14, May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8, and October 13, 2018
