Welcome to Norway: The Norwegian team North Star Fireworks visits the Herrenhäuser Gardens

In the Großer Garten, which was sold out with 11,000 visitors, the young performers in this year’s competition will light up the sky above the Herrenhausen Gardens on June 9, 2018.

Fireworks Contest in the Herrenhausen Gardens

Two charming elves from the Norwegian forests are looking forward to welcoming fireworks enthusiasts this evening. In the Great Garden, they will meet the Birch Fairy, with her delicate twig-like fingers, and the Forest Elf, who loves to play pranks. Magnificent Baroque horsemanship by the historical riders led by Richard Hinrichs can be admired at the Western Crescent. In the Garden Theater, Huldrelokkk presents Scandinavian folk music with rapid, virtuoso fiddling and three-part vocals. The Trouble Notes tell musical stories full of vision and energy on the rehearsal stage.

At 10:30 p.m., the moment will finally arrive—at the second event of this renowned competition, the North Star Fireworks team will enchant the audience. North Star Fireworks began planning today’s fireworks display in November 2017, with the months leading up to the competition being the most intense. The theme of the fireworks display: A dream about the gardens and what might happen there at night. The team aims to tell a story through their pyrotechnics. Every musical element serves a specific purpose, and the choreography is designed to reflect the content of the songs. Thanks to this highly “emotional” style, spectators can look forward to a show full of variety, both in music and in fireworks. Participating in this competition has been a long-held dream of the team. The International Fireworks Competition inspired Andreas Helle, manager and lead designer at North Star, to create and design pyromusicals at this high level, and he can hardly believe his luck at actually being here now.

The Team: North Star Fireworks from Norway
North Star Fireworks is the newcomer on the fireworks scene: The company was founded in 2015 by Andreas Helle (manager and lead designer), Kenneth Hurlen, Lars Nøkleby, and Kim Erik de Sousa. The four current owners were previously involved in some of Norway’s largest professional shows, such as concerts by Jean Michel Jarre, the Tall Ships Races, New Year’s Eve, and many others. The company focuses on the interplay of high-quality shows, design, and video simulation for national and international clients. Storytelling is another key aspect of their design. The goal: to bring the magic of their shows to life for the audience. Consequently, the Norwegian company’s style is highly emotional and features a high degree of synchronization. North Star Fireworks presented its first show outside of Norway at the 2017 Pyronale in Berlin—with tremendous success! Not only did the audience award the show the “Show of the Day” prize, but the jury also named it the first-place winner.
