The MAKALU Fireworks team visits the International Fireworks Competition

In the sold-out Großer Garten, the Czech team will light up the sky over the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen on September 7, the penultimate night of the 2019 International Fireworks Competition.

Hanover International Fireworks Competition

With their stunning plumage, a wren and a magnificent peacock delight not only the Little Mole from the Czech animated series, but also the 11,000 fireworks fans. At the Garden Theater, singer Sisa Fehérová and her band Féhéro Rocher perform smooth and groovy jazz, soul, and blues, as well as classics and nearly forgotten folk songs. On the rehearsal stage, Michal Müller captivates the audience with his unique playing style, creating a relaxed yet energetic groove.

Martin Peter, director and choreographer at MAKALU Fireworks, is very much looking forward to his first show in Hanover: “The unique layout of the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen allows for a very interesting use of our ground effects. In most cases, fireworks shows are two-dimensional, meaning the effects are launched from a specific line. Here in Hannover, however, we can use multiple lines, which opens up great perspectives and possibilities for us, especially for the ground effects.” His show is like a game of scales: when the pans are balanced, this delicate state is called equilibrium. If you place something as small as a grain of sand on one of the pans—the balance is lost. Equilibrium therefore also describes a very fragile state of perfection. The story of MAKALU Fireworks is about maintaining the balance between seemingly contradictory elements and ideas. How can the old and the classical be weighed against the modern? Will the wondrous human voice hold its own against the power of musical instruments? Can harmony be maintained between melancholy and bursts of joy? Martin Peter invites the audience: “Let’s try to find the world’s balance together in our show!”

The Team: MAKALU Fireworks
Special effects for films and concerts, original shows, and everything related to pyrotechnics—that’s what MAKALU Fireworks, the young team from the Czech Republic, is all about. Through their fireworks displays, they tell stories; behind every show lies a narrative that is brought to life visually and acoustically through music and fireworks. MAKALU Fireworks has enjoyed great success at international events and festivals—for example, at the Chinese New Year celebration in Prague or on the winners’ podium at competitions in Germany and Poland.

The final of this year's competition on September 21, 2019, featuring the Japanese team Marutamaya Co., is already sold out. In collaboration with Radio 21, a livestream will be available at www.visit-hannover.com/feuerwerk for all events.
