Fancy a little break? The Region Hannover recommends: a vacation right on your doorstep!

Under the slogan “Vacation Right Next Door – Discover Your Region,” Hannover Marketing und Tourismus GmbH (HMTG) is launching its campaign today, featuring day trip destinations, events, and tour recommendations in the Hannover Holiday Region. You don’t have to travel far for the perfect getaway: Just a stone’s throw away, Lake Steinhuder Meer, the Deister hills, the horse-riding region, and Marienburg invite you to enjoy exciting experiences. The months of June through September, in particular, offer a variety of events—many of them outdoors.

Regional President Hauke Jagau commented: “The Region Hannover has so much to offer in terms of quality of life: beautiful landscapes and gardens, wonderful cultural institutions, and great recreational opportunities. And everything is easily accessible by bus, train, or bike. Anyone who spends their vacation here has plenty of opportunities to discover new things, even if they live here.”

With the state capital at its heart and the small towns and villages surrounding it, the Region Hannover offers a wide range of opportunities to make your vacation both exciting and relaxing. From theater performances and city festivals to sporting events and concerts in unusual venues—the calendar of events is packed.

The summer special “Vacation Right Next Door” is included with the June issue of *Stadtkind Hannover* magazine. If you’re not one of the approximately 10,000 *Stadtkind* readers, you can pick up the 32-page brochure for free starting June 1 at the Tourist Information office at Ernst-August-Platz 8. To complement this, posters featuring striking photos draw attention to the Holiday Region and its events—on a total of 115 large billboards in Hildesheim, Braunschweig, Lüneburg, and Göttingen, as well as on 20 full-size columns in Hannover.

Hans Christian Nolte, managing director of HMTG, is looking forward to the coming months in the Holiday Region: “There’s so much to discover that boredom is truly unheard of in the Region Hannover. So here’s my tip: check the calendar of events, pack a picnic blanket, and let the open-air fun begin.”

The trend in overnight stays also supports this assessment. In 2017, the Region Hannover surpassed the 4 million mark for the first time. Over the past 10 years, the Region Hannover has even recorded growth of over 32% (comparing 2008 to 2018). This figure does not include the approximately 53 million day visitors annually, who make up the largest market segment. As a result, tourism generates billions in revenue for service providers and is one of the most profitable economic factors in the Hannover region.
