German Trade Fair

With a capacity of around half a million square meters, the exhibition grounds are among the largest in the world and have enjoyed immense popularity for decades among exhibitors and visitors from all corners of the globe. Hannover hosts one of the most significant technology events with the leading trade fair, HANNOVER MESSE. Every year, numerous other leading trade fairs “made in Hannover” serve as a showcase to the world, impressing visitors with their uniqueness, international scope, and diverse range of topics. The large number of trade and consumer exhibitions
also underscores the location’s high popularity. Other major attractions include large-scale concerts and sporting events, such as the renowned German Classics equestrian tournament, which takes place here annually.
The exhibition grounds feature 24 exhibition halls and pavilions covering an area of 392,453 square meters—a multifunctional complex with a distinctive architectural design. An additional 58,000 square meters of open space offers almost limitless possibilities. Glass-enclosed walkways and various green spaces and quiet zones create a relaxed yet productive atmosphere. Since each section has its own infrastructure, the West, Central, and East areas can be used simultaneously and independently of one another. By dividing the site into individual sections, short distances are ensured despite the expansive grounds. The division into individually usable units means there is always an optimal spatial solution available for each specific set of requirements. This results in a vast array of different scenarios, and conference guests at the exhibition grounds consistently experience an atmosphere of cosmopolitanism and innovative spirit.

Set amid the striking architecture of the hall complex is the futuristic-looking Convention Center, with its 35 rooms and halls and a total area of 5,232 square meters. Here, spaces can be configured to accommodate groups ranging from 10 to 1,300 people.
A transparent foyer connects two large halls and is flanked on both sides by numerous smaller halls. The Convention Center’s commercial kitchen ensures rapid catering to all areas. The foyer itself impresses with its spacious cascading staircase, from which the respective staircases lead to the conference rooms. The foyer alone offers 500 square meters of exhibition space. The high-quality materials used—such as the elegant light-colored marble found throughout the foyer—are particularly impressive.
At the same time, the design of the spaces remains entirely functional. For example, anyone taking the elevator to the panoramic restaurant will not only enjoy the culinary offerings but can also experience a fantastic view at the same time. In short: The Convention Center is not only a fully-fledged convention center; it also stands out as a timelessly modern microcosm in the heart of the exhibition grounds.

The state capital has launched the "5GAPS" project in collaboration with Deutsche Messe AG and other partners from the business and scientific communities. It is supported by substantial federal funding. The plan is to use the new 5G mobile communications standard—which enables the transmission of large amounts of data—to manage and develop public spaces in a digitally flexible manner.  The test site is the Hannover exhibition grounds with its 5G campus network.

Hanover Congress Center (HCC)

Under the motto “Tradition and Innovation,” the Hannover Congress Centrum combines a historic ambiance with modern facilities and technology. The over 100-year-old city hall, featuring the historic domed hall and large banquet halls, is complemented by a number of spacious function rooms as well as more than 30 conference and seminar rooms. The entire HCC features 41 halls and conference rooms with a total event area of 13,000 square meters and 15,000 seats.
In addition, the venue offers an in-house PCO service that includes an all-inclusive package.
The adjacent city park, spanning 60,000 square meters, is the perfect place to relax during event breaks or can even be used for outdoor events. Right next door is the four-star Congress Hotel am Stadtpark, with its 258 rooms, which offers direct access to the HCC.
Precisely because it is a historic building, sustainability plays an important role here. The HCC has been Green Globe-certified since 2011. Following its recertification in 2015 with a Green Globe score of 96%, the Hannover Congress Centrum ranks among the leading centers in Europe in this area.

Green Events

Hanover has more than 60 green partners for sustainable events that focus on social, environmental, and economic aspects.
By using energy-efficient equipment and lighting, reducing water and energy consumption, and minimizing waste, it is possible to save costs in the long run while also contributing to environmental and climate protection.

Hybrid Events

Hybrid formats are a blend of virtual and live events, making them the ideal format for connecting participants from around the world. Live streaming with interactive features is an innovative way to communicate.

As a hub for hybrid events, the city on the Leine is showcasing 46 venues, including the Hannover Congress Centrum (HCC) with its Future Meeting Space, the exhibition grounds—home to H’Up, winner of the “Best Hybrid Event Venue” award—and the Peppermint Streaming Studio, which was honored as the “Best Streaming Venue.”
