Diverse art and culture

The numerous museums attract visitors with a wide variety of exhibition highlights; Hannover will become a dance capital in 2020, and there are other options as well.

Hanover will once again become a dance mecca during the Easter Dance Days or when the TANZtheater INTERNATIONAL festival presents top-notch contemporary dance from around the world from September 3 to 12, 2020.

With a wide variety of exhibition highlights, the city’s many museums—such as the internationally renowned Sprengel Museum Hannover, the Museum August Kestner (opening in April following its renovation), the Kestnergesellschaft, the Wilhelm Busch – German Museum of Caricature and Drawing, and the Landesmuseum Hannover—are sure to attract visitors. An overview of current exhibitions can be found at www.visit-hannover.com/ausstellungen. In early June, all of these institutions will keep their current exhibitions open until 11:30 p.m. as part of the Long Night of Museums in Hannover.

The best time to explore the world of opera and theater is at the end of May during the Long Night of the Theaters. During this event, Hannover’s theater professionals join forces to present a total of about 150 performances at over 30 venues.
