The Maschsee Lake Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2015 and takes visitors on a trip around the world
Ready for takeoff: From July 29 to August 16, Hannover is the vacation destination of choice. For 19 whole days, Lower Saxony’s largest public open-air festival will take visitors on a fascinating journey around the globe.

Stopovers along the way will give visitors the chance to sample the culinary delights of the international food offerings, attend fantastic free open-air concerts, watch exciting activities on the lake, enjoy a fascinating program for kids, and take in a variety of cabaret acts. The anniversary celebrations will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display over Maschsee Lake on the festival’s final day.
Once again, this year’s Maschsee Lake Festival is ready to take visitors on a culinary journey to a wide variety of countries. Under the motto “Around the World in 19 Days,” the festival will feature fine cuisine from the Far East, Italy, Mexico, Spain, and the Caribbean, and the Irish atmosphere of Temple Bar is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. However, the menu and itinerary also include regional specialties. We’ve almost reached the runway and takeoff is already in sight: the Maschsee Lake Festival caterers look forward to welcoming their passengers on board.
When it comes to music, the Maschsee Lake Festival also invites audiences to embark on a world tour. The program features a wealth of concert highlights with acts from a wide variety of countries: on the Maschsee Stage, for example, Choni Cia. Flamenca and Soneros de Verdad are sure to create a festive atmosphere. Temple Bar will set the stage for an Irish vibe with bands such as The Keltics and The Brogues. The Löwenbastion venue will feature not only crowd favorites such as Lotto King Karl & Die Barmbek Dreamboys and the indie folk punk legend New Model Army, but also promises a top-class musical lineup. Country star Gunter Gabriel and excellent cover bands such as Supernatural will set the stage for a great party atmosphere at Maschseequelle.

During the festival weekends, the three local radio stations—ffn, Antenne Niedersachsen, and RADIO 21—will take over the stage on the northern shore of the lake. ffn will kick off the weekend with Johannes Oerding on July 31. On August 8 and 9, Antenne Niedersachsen will invite visitors to party the weekend away and will also host a fun boat race called Crazy Crossing on August 9. As always, the true star of the festival will be Lake Maschsee itself, with countless events guaranteed to capture everyone’s attention: in addition to the Crazy Crossing, there will be a torchlight swim and the NKR Duck Fun(d)racing. The rock music channel RADIO 21 will be in charge of the final weekend, presenting not only charismatic bands but also orchestrating the anniversary fireworks display at 10 p.m. on August 16, as the perfect finale to the 30th Maschsee Lake Festival.
