The goal is to draw the attention of qualified professionals to the well-connected Hannover region and to provide a concise overview of the many good reasons to settle here. The website www.hannover.de/en/specialists provides answers to a wide variety of questions related to vocational training, higher education, and careers. It offers information and contacts for apprenticeship and job boards, as well as vocational schools and career counseling centers. It also covers degree programs, continuing education opportunities, the dual training system, and useful information on starting a business.

Personal work-life balance is a key factor when choosing a (new) place to live: Hanover offers a big-city vibe and a unique closeness to nature. With 11.36 percent green space, the capital of Lower Saxony is one of the greenest cities in Germany. The Herrenhausen Gardens, the Eilenriede City Forest, the nearby Deister mountain range, as well as Lake Masch and Lake Steinhude offer numerous opportunities for relaxation and recreation.

With its unique exhibits and spectacular exhibitions, Hanover is also regarded as a major arts and cultural hub. The museums—including internationally renowned institutions such as the Sprengel Museum Hannover and the kestnergesellschaft, as well as all other cultural venues—offer the perfect setting for experiencing culture and history up close. The Staatstheater Hannover, with its opera and drama divisions, also ranks among the best in the country. Ensembles with outstanding casts, renowned directors, playwrights, and choreographers consistently set new standards, even by international standards. Experiencing nature while enjoying all the benefits of city life: this is a given in the Hannover region—and ensures a high quality of life.

Immediately following the Brexit decision in the United Kingdom, the Hannover Marketing and Tourism Corporation (HMTG) launched a location campaign. Hannover, a trade fair and business hub in the heart of Europe, is courting British companies and skilled workers. Inserts, advertisements, mailings, and online activities were all part of the campaign in the United Kingdom—and now a dedicated website for recruiting skilled workers has been launched.

Whether it’s industry, services, skilled trades, or retail, Hanover is considered Lower Saxony’s most important economic hub and offers a diverse range of industries. In the industrial sector, automotive and mechanical engineering have traditionally been strong sectors. In the service sector, the transportation, logistics, communications, tourism, and conference and event industries are reporting tremendous growth. A hallmark of the city is the close ties between business and academia, which foster innovation and the creation of new companies.

Major insurance companies such as Concordia, VGH, and VHV—as well as the Talanx Group, which has established headquarters in Hannover for its brands Hannover Re, one of the world’s largest reinsurers, and HDI Global SE—have a strong presence here. Furthermore, financial service providers (Swiss Life, Nord/LB) with headquarters or branches shape the city, as does the Hannover Stock Exchange. Internationally renowned brands are also a symbol of the Hanover economic region: companies such as Continental, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Bahlsen, Johnson Controls, BREE, KIND Hearing Aids, Komatsu-Hanomag, MTU Maintenance, Rossmann, Sennheiser, Solvay Germany, and TUI have their headquarters here.
