International Geomysteries: Italy
This short geocaching tour takes you through the National Museum. Of course, it can only be done during opening hours. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed on Mondays.
Geocachers receive discounted admission (€1.50) to the museum for the purpose of the geocaching tour. On Fridays from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, free admission is otherwise available. Verify your eligibility at the ticket counter by showing the listing on paper or on your device. Please do not abuse this! First, look for the Italian Renaissance section in the State Gallery on the 2nd floor. There you will find the exhibition catalog "Italian Paintings" in a "special edition." Starting on page 202, there are slightly altered images of exhibited works (“Maria” and “Piazza”). Find one error in each image and note down the grid number. Calculate the product of the digit and the letter value (example: E2 = 5 × 2 = 10). Then head down to the ground floor to the NaturWelten. There, visit Pleurodeles waltl and see what rock-hard number (C) it holds. Finally, you can head to the green finale in the courtyard and put your collected insights to use there.
International Geosecrets: Italy
A cache from the "International Geo-Secrets" series designed to showcase locations in Hannover that let you take a little trip around the world! This small multi-cache takes you on a tour of the Landesmuseum (State Museum). Of course, the cache can only be played during opening hours, which are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed on Mondays. Geocachers have free access to the museum for their search. Please do not abuse this privilege! First, look for the Italian Renaissance section on the first floor of the Landesgalerie (State Gallery). There you will find the exhibition catalog “Die italienischen Gemälde” (The Italian Paintings) in a “Sonderausgabe” (Special Edition). Starting on page 202, there are several images of exhibited works (“Maria” and “Piazza”). Look at each image, find an error, and note the grid number. Multiply each number and letter by their value (e.g., E2 = 5 × 2 = 10). Then go to the ground floor to the Natural History section. Visit Pleurodeles Waltl and see which hard-rock number (C) you have at home. Finally, you can look at the final open green courtyard and put the knowledge you’ve gained into practice there.
