Bus and train

Here you will find a wealth of information about local public transport.

Anyone traveling by bus, light rail, or commuter train in the Region Hannover can take advantage of Üstra’s well-functioning and coordinated network:

  • ÜSTRA's light rail trains provide fast and often direct service within Hannover, as well as to Langenhagen, Laatzen, Garbsen, Altwarmbüchen, and Sarstedt.
  • Via the railroad tracks, commuter and regional trains operated by Deutsche Bahn, Metronom, Erixx, and WestfalenBahn quickly connect most of the towns and communities in the Region Hannover to the state capital.
  • The Üstra bus network complements local rail service. Buses connect neighborhoods and districts with city centers and provide connections to the rail system.

With EFA—the electronic timetable service—the Region Hannover provides all the information you need for traveling by commuter train, S-Bahn, light rail, and bus. It includes timetable data for all of Lower Saxony and Bremen.

Ticket purchase via cell phone and Internet

The public transportation authority also offers ticket purchases via smartphone and the internet. After registering once, customers can use the website or the app to purchase single-ride and day passes online, print them out, or carry them with them via the app. Registered users of the Mobility Shop also benefit from various discounts, such as on rides with the Hanover-based taxi company Hallo Taxi.

No more combined tickets - but trade fair cards instead

Tickets for HANNOVER MESSE no longer include a pass for ÜSTRA buses and trains to the exhibition grounds. Instead, there are so-called Messe-Cards, which are valid for the duration of the fair as well as the day before and can be purchased online at the Mobility Shop.
