Garden rules

The Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen are a historic garden of European significance and a unique place to experience the art of gardening with all your senses. To ensure that all visitors can enjoy the gardens undisturbed, we ask that you observe the following rules.

Permitted are:

  • Folding chairs (single-seater) with a flexible seat and backrest made of fabric
  • Baby carriages, baggies and bicycle trailers for children up to 4 years old

Among other things, the following is/are not permitted

  • Barbecuing and lighting open fires (e.g. candles)
  • Riding or carrying bicycles
  • Pulling load carriers (e.g. handcarts, sack trucks, trailers, shopping trolleys / "Hackenporsche", suitcases / backpacks with wheels, etc.)
  • Bringing dogs into the large garden
  • It is not permitted to bring parasols, (folding) deckchairs, folding chairs, beanbags, beer tent sets, beer crates, tables, cool boxes or similar.
  • Blocking the escape routes with picnic blankets
  • to enter or even damage flower beds, sculptures and fountains

The instructions of the garden, supervisory and ticket office staff must be followed at all times.

Additional rules and guidelines can be found in the park regulations for the Großer Garten and the Berggarten, as well as for the Georgengarten, in the Ordinance on Public Safety and Order in the State Capital of Hanover (SOG-VO).
