Hello Europe

France is the guest of honor at the International Fireworks Competition

“Hello Europe – Welcome to Hannover”: Under this motto, this year’s International Fireworks Competition invites you to the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen. For the second event, we welcome the French team from Brezac Artifices to the Great Garden.

2023 International Fireworks Competition

Following a welcome from the quintessentially French street performers Marquis d’Éscargot and the Electoress at a snail’s pace, charming Fleurs de Paris, steampunks, Tour de France conquerors, and cheeky crêpe makers bring moments of cultural delight to the Great Garden. Alongside baroque equestrian artistry, French chansons by the Marion & Sobo Band and MaemoiCelle create authentic French flair. It’s not just the children who will be entertained by Mantega’s visual comedy and Fidolo’s little circus as part of the supporting program, before Brezac Artifices lights up the sky starting at 10:30 p.m.

Brezac Artifices from France

The Team: Brezac Artifices

Founded in 1964 and first performing in Herrenhausen in 1995, the French company is now one of the world’s leading fireworks firms.
The team focuses on musical choreography, which evokes powerful emotions in the audience. “I’m especially looking forward to integrating the Baroque garden elements into the show as part of the overall setting,” says show designer and manager Patrick Bault. “The perfect Baroque style of the Royal Gardens of Herrenhausen made a lasting impression on me during my first visit.”

Her Show: Chagrin d’Amour – Heartbreak

What could be more universal than love? Almost everyone can relate to the feelings of love and heartbreak. The show explores the various stages of heartbreak. Brezac Artifices brings these powerful emotions together in a deeply moving performance that touches the soul.

An overview of the evening's music:

The fireworks display consists of a compulsory piece—this year, an excerpt from Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy,” the European anthem—and a free program lasting about 20 minutes:

Woodkid - Run, Boy, Run
Lucenzo & Kenza Farah - Obsession
Scorpions - Still Loving You
Maneskin - Beggin’
Lara Fabian - Je Suis Malade
Gloria Gaynor & Hermes House Band - I Will Survive
