The most environmentally friendly way to get there is on two wheels.
Tips for getting there by bike
During the 2024 Maschsee Festival (including the setup and takedown periods and the duration of the festival itself), the bike path leading into the city on the east side of Rudolf-von-Bennigsen-Ufer, between Altenbekener Damm and Kurt-Schwitters-Platz, will be relocated to the roadway. The bike path directly along Maschsee will be closed to traffic during this time.
Bicycle racks are located here:
Karl-Thiele-Weg (Children's Playground)
Between the lakeside beer garden and the playground
Sprengel Museum
Elevation at Geibelstraße
Lion bastion
South bank
Maschsee Spring
Tip: In the Südstadt district, bicycles have the right of way along a stretch of one and a half kilometers. Alte Döhrener Straße, between Altenbekener Damm and Bürgemeister-Fink-Straße, is designated as a bicycle-friendly street—as are Meterstraße and Maschstraße, which connect to it to the north.
Caution: Cycling while under the influence of alcohol is also prohibited. If in doubt, it’s better to walk your bike home!
