On the north bank, the stage will be set up at the eastern end, creating more space for Alexander Calder’s sculpture “Hellebardier” on Kurt-Schwitters-Platz. This has an important side effect: The change in the stage’s sound projection direction reduces noise pollution in the northern part of the western Südstadt district.

In the future, the development at the “Geibel” will maintain a distance of two meters from Georg Kolbe’s “Couple.” The concrete slab, which is intended to commemorate the book burning in May 1933, will remain free of any structures and will always be accessible.

Arno Breker’s lion sculptures at the “Löwenbastion” will also not be altered or covered by new construction. As in previous years, these measures were coordinated with the City of Hamburg’s Department of Culture.
