On weekends and on the nights before certain holidays, Üstra buses and trams, Regiobus NightLiners, and Deutsche Bahn S-Bahn trains make up the NachtStern night transit service. The Women’s Night Taxi service is also available to women on weekdays.

Üstra's Night Bus Service

On weekend nights, Üstra streetcars regularly arrive in parallel at Kröpcke and stop for several minutes to allow passengers to change trains easily. From Kröpcke, the streetcars travel to the end points on the outskirts of the city and back.

• Lines 1, 4, 7 and 10 run from Kröpcke at "quarter to", i.e. at around 1:45, 2:45 and 3:45.
• During the night from Saturday to Sunday, the trains also run at around 4:45 am.
• Lines 2, 3, 5, 6, 9 and 9 depart at "a quarter past": at approximately 1:15, 2:15, 3:15 and 4:15.

Üstra city buses

Many Üstra city buses run at night until around 12:30 a.m. Some Üstra bus routes even operate until around 4 a.m. on weekend nights within the city limits of Hanover. After 8 p.m., passengers on these bus routes may also get off between stops. The conditions are: traffic conditions must allow for a stop, and passengers must tell the driver well in advance where they would like to get off.

RegioBus-NightLiner

Regiobus NachtLiners depart on weekend nights between 1 a.m. and 4 a.m. directly from the terminal stops or train stations served by Üstra’s Nachtstern service, as well as from some S-Bahn stations. NachtLiners can be used at no extra charge with a valid ticket. Passengers can also get off between two stops if they specify the stop closest to their destination when boarding. sprinti replaces the shared-ride taxi and Üstra's on-demand taxi

The new on-demand service sprinti, which replaces the shared-ride taxi and Üstra Ruftaxi in the three municipalities of Sehnde, Springe, and Wedemark, among others, can be booked for weekend night trips between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. via the sprinti app or by calling the service number 030 22027 078. sprinti provides connections to the last S-Bahn trains. 

Hanover S-Bahn Night Service

The departure times of the Hannover S-Bahn’s “Nachtstern” service from Hannover Central Station are also coordinated with the Üstra “Nachtstern” service so that passengers arriving by light rail at Kröpcke can easily reach the S-Bahn on foot. From Hannover Central Station, the S-Bahn’s “Nachtstern” service operates according to the following schedule:

• to Neustadt am Rübenberge (1:10, 2:07, 3:07, 4:07 a.m.)
• to Bennemühlen (1:01, 2:02, 3:02 and 4:02)
• to Hamelin (1:11, 2:11, 3:11, 4.11)
• to Burgdorf (1:01, 2:01, 3:01, and 4:01 a.m.)
• to Hildesheim (1:00, 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00)
• to Haste (1:04, 2:04, 3:04, 4:04)

There are also three connections in the opposite directions, although they do not always stop at all stations.

Women's night cab

From October 1 to March 31 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. and from April 1 to September 30 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., women can have a cab called by the driver to any above-ground light rail stop and also to Üstra bus stops.

The service is free of charge. You only need to pay the taxi fare. The taxi service is available all day for people with limited mobility. All female passengers, including those accompanied by children up to age 14, also receive a subsidy of €2.50 per trip for rides within the city limits of Hanover.

Excluded from this service are the tunnel stations Kröpcke, Hauptbahnhof, Aegidientorplatz and Steintor.

60th anniversary

In 2018, Üstra’s Nachtstern service celebrated a milestone anniversary. Since 1958, all light rail lines have been arriving regularly at Kröpcke on weekends, taking passengers “radially” to their destinations in all directions.
