Batteries for the mobility of the future

Clarios

Clarios develops battery technologies for virtually every type of vehicle.

Clarios is considered the global market leader in energy storage solutions. The company has its European headquarters in Hanover.

The former Varta plant is now part of Clarios.

Clarios is one of the world's leading companies in the field of energy storage solutions and plays a central role within the group in Hanover. The Hanover-Stöcken site is home to the European headquarters for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as a major production facility.

The company, formerly known as Johnson Controls Power Solutions, now focuses on innovative battery technologies, particularly in the field of modern starter batteries. Approximately 1,300 employees work in Hanover, and Clarios employs more than 16,000 people worldwide.

The site has a long industrial history: its origins date back to the 1930s, when it was part of the Varta Group. That history is still evident today, while modern technologies and production processes also play a prominent role.

As part of the acquisition, Hannover’s strategic importance within the corporate group was particularly emphasized. The location serves not only as the administrative headquarters for the region but also as a production facility and center of excellence for innovative energy storage solutions. This makes Hannover a key component of Clarios’ global network.
