Automotive industry

The automotive industry is the most important industrial sector in the Hannover region: Approximately 24,900 employees across the entire value chain account for 4.7% of total employment, making Hannover one of Germany’s top five automotive hubs. Together with Braunschweig and Wolfsburg, the region forms an international center for the automotive industry. Key companies include VW Commercial Vehicles, Continental, and numerous suppliers. The region is further strengthened by robust research, with approximately 30 specialized institutes and centers of excellence.
