Automotive industry

The automotive industry is the most significant sector in the Region Hannover: approximately 24,900 employees across the entire value chain account for 4.7% of total employment, making Hannover one of Germany’s top five automotive hubs. Together with Braunschweig and Wolfsburg, the region forms an international center for the automotive industry. Key companies include Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge, Continental, and numerous suppliers. The region is complemented by a strong research base, with around 30 specialized institutes and clusters of expertise.
