As a public-law corporation, the Handwerkskammer Hannover regularly collects statistical data on trends in the number of businesses, apprentices, and those taking journeyman and master craftsman examinations, and conducts surveys on economic conditions in the skilled trades sector.

In addition to the city and Region Hannover, the Hanover Chamber of Crafts also represents the various guilds in the districts of Diepholz, Hamelin, Nienburg, and Schaumburg. The Handwerkskammer also has strong international ties, with official partnerships with the Seine-Maritime Chamber of Crafts in Rouen, France, and the Szczecin Chamber of Crafts in Poland. As part of the partnership, there are reciprocal visits and exchange programs.
