A joint development agency strengthens businesses and Hannover as a location for the future.

To actively support and shape entrepreneurial engagement in the Hannover economic region, the City of Hannover and the Hannover region have established the joint economic development agency, hannoverimpuls.

hannoverimpuls specializes in four key areas:

But startups are also in the right place here, as business creation and entrepreneurship are among hannoverimpuls’s other strengths. As a facilitator between companies, associations, and the academic community, hannoverimpuls leverages its unique industry networks and initiates innovative projects with founders on its own.

To help promising business ideas succeed, hannoverimpuls offers two startup competitions. The Startup-Impuls competition, held in cooperation with Sparkasse, promotes the entrepreneurial implementation of promising business ideas. The winners of the competition receive prize money and comprehensive consulting services. Professional status or current life circumstances do not affect eligibility—the key factor is that the idea can be implemented as a business in the Hannover region.

To make it easier for entrepreneurs to get started, hannoverimpuls also offers the Plug & Work competition. Held four times a year, this competition supports young companies as they enter the market by providing subsidized office and workspace with a total value of several thousand euros.

VentureVilla

To support young companies in their early stages, hannoverimpuls sponsors the VentureVilla in the Hannover-List neighborhood. At the VentureVilla, located right next to Eilenriede—Hannover’s largest city park—five startup teams at a time spend exactly 100 days “accelerating” their business models in the true spirit of an accelerator program. Participating teams receive free, personalized coaching and mentoring, their own office in the heart of Hannover, and access to a large network of investors.

In addition to providing specialized, cross-sector support for startups, the experts at hannoverimpuls also assist established companies in their growth. Acting as a guide and catalyst, hannoverimpuls creates synergies by connecting companies, thereby fostering win-win situations in the Hannover economic region.
