Barsinghausen on the Deister

Adventure Tour 1 – Fuchsbachtal
Hike to the former coal mining sites in the Deister

The starting point of the hiking route is the parking lot at City Hall on Bergamtstraße in Barsinghausen. After crossing the street, the trail leads past the Ziegenteich pond to the edge of the forest. The first stop on the hike is the former Jewish cemetery, which commemorates the Jewish community of Barsinghausen with two restored gravestones.
The upper Wasserfallweg then leads directly to the sports facilities of the Lower Saxony Football Association. Among others, the Polish national team trained here during the 2006 World Cup.
Immediately afterward, you reach Kaiser-Wilhelm-Platz, featuring an oak tree, a commemorative plaque, a trout pond, and the lower Sammannstollen. On the lower path—leaving the main hiking trail to the left and passing the pond—you reach the area of the Klosterbergwerk mine via the sunken path. After leaving the old mine site, you rejoin the upper Wasserfallweg. Following this path, you reach the Bössquelle spring after about 500 meters. A shelter and fresh spring water invite you to take a break.
The path continues slightly downhill on the Blockhüttenweg, past the waterworks and the Brauns monument, directly onto the Rodelbahnweg. This trail leads back to City Hall, the starting point of the hiking route.
