The tour begins at the bus stop for line 491 on Leinestraße in Stelingen. The trail first heads west, offering views of the vast meadows between Osterwald and Stelingen. Behind the towers of the asphalt mixing plant, the trail then branches off to the north and winds its way up the gentle slope to the Osterwald Geestrücken.
On the outskirts of Osterwald, the path turns eastward, passing through Neue Straße and Zum Jägerfeld to reach the northern edge of the linear village of Osterwald.
Here, you enter the culturally and historically significant field patterns. Due to the removal of typical rows of trees and the joint cultivation of several parcels, the old, handkerchief-shaped land structures behind the individual farmsteads can no longer be fully appreciated. However, the fields cultivated in a north-south direction and the course of the paths still serve as a reminder of their origins.
Follow the paths northward to the land consolidation monument, then turn east there. You’ll now pass through a varied landscape of fields, meadows, and forests until you reach the old path from Heitlingen to Resse. Follow this path all the way to Heitlingen. On the outskirts of town, head east along Am Brinke and Eichenstraße. Through the bars of the iron gate in the eastern estate wall, you can also catch a glimpse of the historic rose garden.
We now continue south toward Stelingen until we reach Heitlinger Straße. We cross the street and follow the path running parallel to the Müsselbruchgraben through spring-fed meadows until we return to the starting point.
