A Suggested Tour Around Benther Berg
: You can start your hike or bike ride on Lenther Chaussee at the northern end of Benther Berg and walk along the ridge of Benther Berg, passing ancient burial mounds.
On the Benther Berg Nature Trail, you can learn about the local flora and fauna. With a little luck, you might spot and hear the black woodpecker. Then hike through the village of Benthe, past old villas, farmhouses, a chapel, and a windmill, all the way to the legendary “Sieben-Trappen-Steine” in the district of the same name—a monument dedicated to greater honesty. Then hike east of Benthe past the Eschteich natural monument and the green Empelde potash slag heap (with a vineyard on its southern slope)—a testament to Ronnenberg’s mining history—back to the starting point.

Alternatively, you can start the hike at the last stop of tram line 9 in Empelde and walk along the Grüner Ring through Empelde, past the green potash slag heap, to Benther Berg.
