The Calenberg Monasteries

The monasteries of Barsinghausen, Mariensee, Marienwerder, Wennigsen, and Wülfinghausen, located in the former Principality of Calenberg, were founded in the early 13th century. With the exception of Monastery Mariensee, whose community followed the Rule of the Cistercian Order, they were all Augustinian convents.
