Apart from the "Kubus" in Hannover, Lehrte is the only city in the Region Hannover—which comprises 21 municipalities—that maintains a municipal art gallery.
Since February 3, 2006, Lehrte has not only had an exceptionally beautiful exhibition space in the 54-year-old Alte Schlosserei on the former sugar factory grounds, but also an event space with a large stage that allows for the interplay of various art forms.
Renovated and refurbished in 2005, the Alte Schlosserei is also ideally suited as a venue for sculptures and object art.
Concerts, comedy shows, choral performances, and lectures highlight the wide range of arts and cultural events that take place regularly at the Alte Schlosserei.
