Not only the A2 and A7 highways, but also Deutsche Bahn’s north-south and east-west rail lines intersect in Lehrte. It’s no wonder that the city, with its nine districts, is a sought-after location for manufacturing and logistics. The sugar factory, which once dominated the city, was demolished in 2002. A new city center was built in its place. Lehrte has a total population of around 44,000. The city maintains partnerships with cities in Sweden, Poland, France, and Belgium. More at www.lehrte.de
