Hohnhorst Park with Water Tower
The Water Tower: a real highlight!
Hohnhorstpark, with its water tower in Lehrte, is a central recreational area and one of the most distinctive landmarks in the Region Hannover. Covering an area of approximately 28 hectares, the park uniquely combines nature, recreational activities, and industrial history.
The focal point is the water tower, built in 1912, which is considered the town’s landmark. The approximately 45-meter-high brick tower originally served as the main water supply for Lehrte and is now a historic landmark. At night, the tower is illuminated, adding a striking feature to the townscape.
The park was expanded and redesigned following the demolition of the former sugar factory. Today, the water features serve as a reminder of the site’s industrial past, while green spaces, paths, and recreational areas invite visitors to linger.
In addition to being a place to relax, Hohnhorstpark also offers space for activities and events. Fitness facilities, play areas, and event spaces round out the offerings. Open-air events, including concerts and festivals, are held here regularly.
With its blend of history, nature, and recreational activities, Hohnhorstpark and its water tower make for a versatile destination in Lehrte.
