Bennigsen Outdoor Pool

A swimming pool in the southern part of the Region Hannover that has been lovingly expanded over the years by its members.

Twenty-four residents of Bennigsen are members of Bäder GmbH and operate the outdoor pool without receiving any personal financial benefit. The entire complex is maintained, renovated, and cared for on a volunteer basis. Nevertheless, funds are tight here as well. To reduce operating costs, the fire department helps with the initial filling each year, pumping water from the pond of a former quarry into the pools. The kiosk is also run by the association. In the evenings, the cashier packs “goodie bags” while watching TV; swimwear is sold, and during the season, the program regularly features great promotions, game afternoons, discos, or night swimming. Additionally, there are summer camps during the summer break for all children aged 7–12. A solar heating system ensures the right temperature in the pool.

Swimming area:
Swimmers: 30×15 meters with 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards; Non-swimmers: 20×15 meters with a small slide; Paddling pool: approx. 150 square meters with 4 slides; Temperature: 22°C

Amenities:
restroom, shower, changing room, large lawn with plenty of trees

Activities:
Playground, beach volleyball, soccer, table tennis, backgammon, chess, camping (by reservation), game afternoons, birthday parties (by reservation), night swimming, disco; Camping for children ages 7–12 during the 3rd and 4th weeks of summer vacation, open-air concerts, open-air cinema, nude swimming; billiards, many recreational activities in and out of the water; outdoor pool party in August
