Naturbad Wasserpark-Wennigsen (Deister)

With nearly 2,000 square meters of swimming area, the water park is one of the largest natural swimming lakes in Germany. When it opened in 2000, it was the first of its kind in northern Germany. A regeneration pond, with its special selection of native aquatic plants, ensures natural water purification that does not require chemicals. With countless aquatic plants, it ensures that the water remains of drinking water quality even with 2,000 swimmers per day. In addition, there is an ornamental and spring pond measuring 300 square meters and, of course, the actual swimming pond with 2,000 square meters of water surface. The rest of the approximately 20,000-square-meter facility consists of sunbathing lawns. The treated water flows back into the large swimming pond via the spring pond. This pond is divided into a swimmers’ area and a non-swimmers’ area. All around are extensive sunbathing lawns bordered by trees. There is a diving rock, as well as a floating island and a small waterfall. For children, there is a large sandpit in addition to some playground equipment, which can be transformed into a large mud pit using a child-safe water pump. Active visitors can also work up a sweat on the beach volleyball court. Amenities also include changing rooms and a restaurant with a café terrace.
