At RuheForst Deister, a natural cemetery spanning approximately 43 hectares, burials take place in the heart of nature: in the shade of beech and oak trees, this form of burial is becoming increasingly popular. The forest, with its prehistoric burial mounds and many oak and beech trees dating back some 200 years, is now also open for urn burials. Here, in the peaceful countryside, people find a place of eternal rest at the RuheForst Deister in Bredenbeck. Only a simple, large wooden cross beneath the forest canopy marks the gathering place for mourners in a clearing and conveys the full grandeur of nature.
The forest is managed according to ecological principles. There is no clear-cutting; valuable individual trees and biotopes are preserved. Rare animal and plant species are provided with refuges.
