Forest Nature Trail and Nature Puzzle Trail

Experience the forest with all your senses! For explorers of all ages—2.5 kilometers, an easy hike with plenty to discover—along the interactive forest nature trail from the Wennigsen "Waldkater" hiking parking lot to the waterwheels in the Deister.

Eight stations offer a genuine nature experience for children and adults alike. Here, you can explore the forest, wildlife, and nature in a variety of ways. The Nature Mystery Trail begins right after. Along this 4.3-kilometer hiking trail, participants answer questions in a fun and interactive way. Hikers will learn a lot of interesting facts about the Deister, such as the different tree species, the forest as a habitat, and the local wildlife. For children, uncovering the hidden answers to the wildlife tracks, trying to jump like a hare, or spinning the matching tree cubes is sure to be exciting.

At the start and end points of the Forest Adventure Trail, there is an information board with helpful explanations. Here, the owners of the forest area—the Klosterforsten—also introduce themselves and their on-site forestry work. At the Waldkater parking lot, there is a seating area with wooden benches and bike racks to make it easier for visitors to start the trail. Those who want a more active outing can tackle the Forest Adventure Trail and the Nature Puzzle Trail together. Other nearby attractions include the popular waterwheels on the Bröhn River and the Annaturm tower at the highest point of the Deister.
