Overview of Maschsee

Lake Maschsee was created in the 1930s and has been a defining feature of Hannover’s cityscape ever since. With a surface area of approximately 78 hectares, it is an important part of the city’s recreational landscape. The surrounding green spaces and promenades create an open, spacious atmosphere that lends itself to both relaxation and activity.

Circular route and walks

A path about six kilometers long circles the Maschsee in Hannover. The loop is ideal for walks as well as shorter sections and offers views of the water throughout. Different sections of the shore—from open promenades to quieter, green areas—provide plenty of variety.

Lake Maschsee is a popular spot for water-based recreational activities. During the warmer months, pedal boats and sailboats are a common sight on the lake.
