The Schauspielhaus Hannover opened in 1992.

The building was designed by Swiss architect Claude Paillard. The Schauspielhaus seats 630 spectators in the stalls and upper tiers, making it the largest of the five theaters belonging to "Schauspiel Hannover." Together with the "Staatsoper Hannover" in the Opera House, Schauspiel Hannover forms the "Lower Saxony State Theater."
